Course FAQ

Q1: Can I take the ARE seminar during second year of Master degree?

A: It is highly recommended to complete the seminar within the first year of your study. The purpose of this seminar is to provide students with important information on research ethics. However, if the student cannot take the seminar in the first year due to force majeure, it is possible to take the seminar during the second year of study. Passing ARE seminar is one of the prerequisites before applying for the Thesis Oral Defense. Please note that you must complete the ARE seminar before applying for the oral examination.

Q2: I plan to work as a Project Research Assistant in the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), one of the requirements for the position is to complete six hours of ARE training. How can I do?

A: If you need the official certificate of ARE training hours, we recommend that you take distant-learning courses offered by The Center for Taiwan Academic Research Ethics Education. When completed, you can print out the training certificate online.

Q3: How to cancel my registration?

A: Enter the "Account center" via the online system and cancel the registration. However, it is not possible to cancel on the day of the seminar.

Q4: What should I do if I have already completed the online registration but did not receive the confirmation notice afterwards?

A: The registration confirmation notice is sent via the auto-reply system. Occasionally, the letter may be blocked. If you did not receive the registration confirmation notice, please go to the "Account center" and check.

Q5: Will I receive a certificate after completing a seminar at NTUST?

A: If you take distant-learning courses offered by AREE, you can print out the training certificate online when completed.

If you take an ARE seminar in NTUST, no certificate will be issued. Instead, when successfully completed the ARE seminar, it suggests that student has passed the compulsory course "TC5001 Academic Research Ethics". The CGE will then submit the relevant information to the Office of Academic Affairs, “Pass” will be given on the "TC5001 Academic Research Ethics" column in your academic record.

Q6:Can I join the course during my Temporary Withdrawal from university?

A: During the Temporary Withdrawal period, all grades will not be awarded (cf. NTUST Academic Policies Article 34).
